My boyhood was spent in Woodstock, NY where artists from all over the world had come to live and work at the turn of the century. I myself at the age of 17 studied with one of these, an elderly painter who had come to Woodstock in 1903 to help found the Summer School for the Art Student’s League, a most important American school of Art. At the age of 18 I went away to study fine arts at Temple University outside Philadelphia. Later, after graduation and back in Woodstock, I heard of Meher Baba in 1954, which initiated my life-long pre-occupation with Him. Not long after this, I began correspondence with Adi K. Irani, Baba’s disciple and secretary which continued until I met Baba for the 1st time in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1958. Again in 1962 I had the opportunity to be with Meher Baba in India at the East-West Gathering. I lived for many years in Myrtle Beach, SC, near the Baba Center. My wife and I moved to Asheville NC for 20 years and have recently returned to Myrtle Beach to live near the Center again.
